In recognition of Women’s History Month and K9 Veterans Day, the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation is pleased to offer two showings of “Megan Leavey.” The movie is based on the story of Marine Corporal Megan Leavey’s unbreakable bond with a military K9 named Rex. Together, the pair detect explosives in Iraq, but when Leavey is injured and returns home, she vows to cut through the military’s red tape to adopt Rex.

“Megan Leavey” shines a critical light on the crucial role that military dog-handlers and their K9 companions play in the military both abroad and at home. Kata Mara, best known for playing reporter Zoe Barnes in “House of Cards,” takes on the role of Corporal Leavey. The movie is rated PG-13 and runs for 1 hour and 56 minutes. To purchase tickets, please visit the foundation’s website.

Showings are Saturday, March 12 at 11:45 a.m. and Sunday, March 13 at 1:30 p.m. at the National Museum of the Marine Corps Medal of Honor Theatre, 18900 Jefferson Davis Hwy., Triangle.
