On Aug. 15, Prince William County Department of Parks and Recreation Director Seth Hendler-Voss and Woodbridge District Supervisor Margaret Angela Franklin were joined by Parks staff and area residents for the official unveiling of recent updates made to Marumsco Acre Lake Park.

The neighborhood park had several recent improvements made to it to improve the look, safety and accessibility of the park. Improvements include new ADA sidewalks; replacement of the surface at the playground (mulch to rubber); paving and painting of the basketball courts; and an access ramp to the nearby lake. Additionally, the parking lot was paved, curbs were added, as well as landscaping improvements, and stormwater and drainage improvements.

Hendler-Voss kicked off the ribbon-cutting ceremony welcoming everyone. During his remarks to the crowd he said, “We love the opportunity to improve our existing parks. We’ve been very fortunate because of the support from Supervisor Franklin, the Chair, and the Board of County Supervisors to be able to garner new resources to reinvest in our existing infrastructure.” He went on to thank the many people and organizations who made the park improvements project a reality, including the Prince William County Parks project management team, led by Assistant Director, Planning & Capital Projects, Amarjit S. Riat, along with the project managers who supervised the work onsite ensuring the work was done adequately.

Woodbridge District Supervisor Margaret Angela Franklin, said, “I’m happy to be here to rededicate this park. This is just one of many that we will be focused on.

“We can always invest in new parks, and I’m supportive, but if we don’t put the effort and resources into our neighborhood parks that are currently here serving our residents then are we really serving our residents?”
