Is your child tugging at your arm to read a favorite book aloud? Keep that excitement going at the PWCS Children’s Book Festival at Freedom High School on Saturday, October 8, from 7:00-8:45 p. m. The festival is free and open to the public.
Authors and illustrators will talk about their experiences in reading and writing stories for children. Learn why it is never too early to read to your child, and it is never too late to get started. A wealth of resources will put you and your child on the path toward building and maintaining enthusiasm for learning and reading.
While some books and activities will appeal to all ages, students in grades K–5 will meet authors and illustrators of books they know and will love to know.
Keynote speaker Floyd Cooper, award-winning illustrator of “The Blacker the Berry” and “Brown Honey in Broomwheat Tea,” will talk at 7:00 p. m. There will be numerous book-and-author sessions for children, including Rachel Renee Russell, author of the #1 New York Times Best Selling book series, “Dork Diaries;” Meg Medina, Rachel Renée Russell, David FitzSimmons, and Nancy Silcox, among many others.
