If you ask Maryse Allen, Compton & Duling’s Family Law Partner, what she enjoys most about her practice, she will tell you it is the problem-solving that she achieves each day for her clients. “Each day is a new challenge to tackle, and I appreciate an opportunity to work toward finding simple solutions to complex issues,” Allen says.
Maryse is in charge of the firm’s domestic relations practice area, which includes divorce and child custody litigation, as well as pre-nuptial agreements. As an experienced trial attorney handling countless divorce and custody cases over her years in practice, Maryse not only serves her clients, but also serves the legal community by teaching continuing education classes in advanced family law on her areas of expertise, such as equitable distribution, ethics and divorce mediation.
“Teaching is an extension of what I do every day, whether counseling a client, convincing opposing counsel of the merits of a plan to resolve a dispute, or persuading the court at trial. Attorneys have to be teachers if they are going to be effective.”
In addition to her litigation practice, Maryse has served the community as a member of several local boards and committees, including The Arc, the Turning Point Suffragist Memorial Committee, and the Virginia Women Attorneys Association (VWAA), where she first served as the Prince William Chapter VWAA President in 2012 and then as the Statewide President of the VWAA in 2014.
Maryse has been honored with an AV rating, which is the highest peer review rating from Martindale-Hubbell® Peer Review Ratings™, a 2016 Super Lawyers designation, and the 2016 “10 Best” Client Satisfaction Award from the American Institute of Family Law Attorneys.
