NaNoWriMo Survival Kit for Teens; Adult Writing Contest Now Accepting Entries

Do you love writing? The PWPL staff would love to read your work! This year’s Adult Writing Contest is now accepting entries. Submit poetry or short stories for the chance to win prizes through Nov. 30. Submit your entry online. Winning entries will be featured on pwcva.gov/library and social media.

Competition Rules:

  • Entries will be judged on creativity, originality, technique, and emotional impact.
  • Written works may be submitted online.
  • One entry per category.
  • Entries must be previously unpublished works.
  • Short stories may be no longer than 2,500 words, and poetry may be no longer than one page.
  • Prizes will be awarded at a ceremony to be announced at a later date.
  • Participants must be 18 or older and residents of Prince William County or the City of Manassas.
  • The deadline for entries is Thursday, Nov. 30.

Come into the Haymarket Gainesville Library for your NaNoWriMo-themed goodie bag, full of things you’ll need to defeat writer’s block and get your 50,000 words! Kits are available while supplies last.
