Join the National Domestic Violence Rally in Washington, D.C. on Oct. 1. This rally will be a peaceful gathering to raise awareness about domestic violence and its effects.

The event will take place from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the U.S. Capitol Building, with speakers including congressmen and senators as well as advocates for victims of abuse, according to their website.

There are many issues that need attention during this time of year. People often feel more vulnerable because it is darker outside or they are alone in their homes. One issue that has been largely overlooked is how much domestic violence can affect a victim’s emotional health during the winter months. Winter is an especially difficult time for survivors who may not have the necessary means or are scared to leave.
