Dr. Deborah Bergeron, the newly-appointed director of the Office of Head Start, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, recently visited Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS). Bergeron visited Gar-Field High School to learn more about a collaboration between Head Start and the high school students enrolled in the early childhood education and services program. She also visited an inclusion classroom at Mullen Elementary School, and at Victory Elementary School, she observed Head Start, Virginia Preschool Initiative Plus, and Title 1 Pre-K programs.
“Dr. Bergeron shared her focus of school readiness for all Head Start students,” said Kathy Channell, supervisor of Head Start for PWCS. “Although she has only visited a few programs around the nation, she was very impressed with the high-quality services offered our students and families.”
