NEA President-elect Princess Moss, a music teacher from Virginia, will crisscross the country as part of a back-to-school tour. Moss begins her tenure as president of the National Education Association, the three-million-member union that represents educators across the country, on Sept.1. The daughter of two school bus drivers, Moss joined the Virginia Education Association (VEA) as a student member while studying music education at the University of Mary Washington.
On Tuesday, August 25, Moss met with students and school personnel at Jennie Dean Elementary School in Manassas. This is part of her outreach to educators and school communities across Virginia.
Her visit to Jennie Dean Elementary School in Manassas comes early in the new school year and offers a firsthand look at how Moss — herself a longtime Virginia classroom teacher — plans to engage directly with students and school staff as she steps into national leadership.
