Say the magic word – abracadabra – and visit Prince William Public Libraries’ (PWPL) Management and Government Information Center (MAGIC), located at Chinn Park Library, or email staff at magic2@pwcgov.org or 703-792-4880.

Say a resident has a great idea for a new business venture, but is new to the industry and just is not sure how to start. MAGIC has specialized staff and resources to help navigate the following topics:

  • Marketing and industry research
  • Finding resources about securing capital to start a business
  • Marketing a new business
  • Managing for success

Nonprofits can also take advantage of MAGIC. Through PWPL’s partnership with the Funding Information Network, PWPL provides access to the Foundation Directory Online and hosts Candid training support, available at no cost to the local community. Database access is only available in-person at Chinn Park Library.

MAGIC offers monthly virtual programming. For November, watch prerecorded programs including:

  • 10 Strategies for Success with Digital Fundraising
  • Instruction to Foundation Directory Online
  • Introduction to Proposal Writing

Even if residents cannot make it to Chinn Park Library, PWPL’s Digital Library is available 24/7. Under the “Financial” tab in the Digital Library, residents can find premium websites, including Mergent Online, a resource that collects several different databases on company and industry information, and Gale LegalForms, a comprehensive collection of downloadable legal forms.

Whether residents are ready to invest in a new business venture, or are just conducting local research, say the magic words: “I’m heading over to MAGIC at Chinn Park Library!”
