Manassas, VA- Located inside the Historic Manassas Post office, an exciting project is coming to life. The NEW School, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that places an emphasis on enhancing the science, technology, engineering, math and arts education for our youth, The NEW School provides a premier learning experience to grow tomorrow’s youth and our community’s future.
The NEW in new school stands for Neighborhood Engagement, Education Enhancement and Workforce Development. Last week, the NEW School opened its doors so that the community could have a sneak peek and learn more about the vision and goals of this organization. Alice Mergler and business partner, Keeyana Logan, have a vision to provide quality education, utilizing a variety resources, that would serve the Greater Prince William County and Manassas communities. In conjunction with Alice’s son Lee Mergler (who with a partner, owns the historic building that the NEW school is housed in), are encouraged by the hands-on learning experiences provided for youth ages 8-18 during the after school and weekend hours when youth desire to be actively engaged.
“What I am most excited about with The NEW School, is the impact we will provide to our students and this community,” says Executive Director, Alice Mergler. “This will truly be a community school aimed at providing quality services beneficial to everyone in this region.”
The NEW School is looking to open their doors for enrollment starting in the fall of 2015. “I think participants and their families will enjoy the variety of activities and programs available to choose from,” states Vice President, Keeyana Logan. “Our programs are not just educational and diverse, but they are also fun.”
The mission of The NEW School, Inc. is to provide engaging youth programs and services to prepare them to be productive members of an ever-growing technological world, and to utilize their gained skills to enhance the quality of life within our community.
