FREDERICKSBURG, VA – Centennial Broadcasting’s WFVA-AM 1230 in Fredericksburg, Virginia, returns to the News/Talk format on Monday, January 28th at midnight. The new weekday lineup will include talk radio giants like Don Imus, Glenn Beck, Mike Huckabee, Dennis Miller, Mark Levin, Michael Savage, and a host of other great names in talk radio.
“Our listeners spoke up and told us they wanted talk to return to WFVA and we responded with a line-up of heavy-hitters in the industry,” said Chuck Archer, Operations Manager. “We are the only station in the Fredericksburg Metro consistently airing news and conservative talk 24 hours a day 7 days a week.”
“It has been nearly two full years since WFVA changed from a NewsTalk station to what has been enjoyed with our Adult Standards format,” said Centennial Fredericksburg Market Manager, Tom Hamilton. “During that time, we have paid attention to what our listeners have said. Overwhelmingly they told us they wanted News/Talk back on WFVA. By providing many of the most listened to talk show hosts in the nation, along with community involvement, local news and public affairs programming, we will better serve our listeners, our local businesses and our community.”
Ten year WFVA veteran, Ted Schubel, will continue as the station’s News Director and will also host a one-hour local program, Town Talk With Ted, weekdays at 8am. The show will introduce listeners to local businesses, non-profit leaders, and political figures who influence the Fredericksburg region every day.
“Ted is committed to delivering quality news content on NewsTalk 1230 WFVA”, commented Archer. “For over a decade he has been producing award-winning news products on our stations. His dedication to the Fredericksburg community, unparalleled work ethic, and personal connections to the power players in the region make him a tremendous asset.”
NewsTalk 1230 WFVA will also continue its long-standing relationship with ABC News including full newscasts at the top of each hour and a continuous real-time news ticker located on the NewsTalk1230.net homepage.
We want to gain audience loyalty throughout the surrounding Fredericksburg area and provide an exciting, news filled lineup during the entire week as a result,” said Hamilton. “The truth is, this is our community, our voice, our station, and we hope our listeners will help us build a great community radio station…Done Right!”
Headquartered in Clemmons, North Carolina, Centennial Broadcasting owns six radio stations in Fredericksburg and Winchester, Virginia. The company has owned and operated NewsTalk 1230 WFVA and B101.5 (WBQB) in Fredericksburg since 2007.
