In Jonathan Alsheimer’s seventh grade history classes at Fred M. Lynn Middle School, the industrialization curriculum is paired with a group project requiring students to create a mock business. Reflecting on a personal experience inspired Alsheimer to make a change to the project this school year, and instead have students create a mock nonprofit organization. This classroom exercise evolved into something larger, as Alsheimer, joined by Fred Lynn Middle School math teacher Thomas Annunziata, created From Kids to Kids, a nonprofit project that solicits donations to make gift boxes for children.
