FAIRFAX –  In the overnight hours  Friday, Dec. 19 through Tuesday, Dec. 23, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will close multiple lanes of I-395 North at Seminary Road for bridge demolition. Motorists should expect delays.

All traffic on I-395 North must exit at the Seminary Road exit (exit 4), and will be detoured across Seminary Road and back to I-395 North. Advance message signs will be posted to alert motorists to the temporary traffic configuration and police will direct traffic at the ramps. This work is weather permitting, and all lanes will reopen at 4:30 a.m.

This demolition work is taking place on the Seminary Road bridge over I-395. Other elements of this project include an auxiliary lane on northbound I-395 between Duke Street and Seminary Road, a new I-395 high occupancy vehicle (HOV) ramp to Seminary Road and a new pedestrian bridge over I-395. More information about the project is available at http://virginiadot.org/projects/northernvirginia/i-395_hov-transit_ramp.asp
