Old Bridge Chamber Orchestra (“OBCO”) invites lovers of holiday music to sing along on Friday, Dec. 15 at 7:30 p. m. at Grace E. Metz Middle School during its 2017 performance of the Christmas portion of Handel’s Messiah. Under the baton of Maestro David Kirven, OBCO will provide the instrumentalists, inspiring vocal soloists, and trained choral “ringers.” From the comfort of their seats, the audience is encouraged to join those ringers during Choruses like “For unto Us a Child Is Born”, “Glory to God”, and, of course, “Hallelujah.”
“Our Messiah Sing Along is easily our most popular event,” says OBCO Board President and Concertmistress, Sheyna Burt. “We are making the concert extra special this year in honor of our 20th Anniversary Season – Santa and Mrs. Claus will be visiting the post-concert reception to help us celebrate. Relatedly, have you ever noticed that you never see Coles District Supervisor Marty Nohe and Kris Nohe and the Clauses in the same place at the same time? Hmm.”
General Admission tickets are $10, free for youth 17 and under, and available at obco.org. Included in the cost of admission are the performance, the post-concert reception, and a picture with Santa and Mrs. Claus. OBCO is grateful to the student musicians of Joan Teaches Cello (joanteachescello.com) and Prince William String Academy (pwstringacademy.com) who will provide sounds of the season during the reception. The event will be presented on Friday, Dec. 15 at Grace E. Metz Middle School, 9950 Wellington Road, Manassas.
