Ordway Conservatory’s “An Interactive Nutcracker” Returns to the Stage

On Sunday, Dec. 12 at 2:00 and 6:00 p.m., Ordway Conservatory of Classical Ballet will perform their annual “An Interactive Nutcracker” at Colgan High School, 13833 Dumfries Rd., Manassas. Tickets are $12-$18 and available at ordwayballet.com/tickets, by emailing info@ordwayballet.com or calling 703-791-4500.

Artistic Director of Ordway Conservatory of Classical Ballet Sara Ordway said, “The holiday season is such a magical time and nowhere is that magical feeling stronger than on our stage during ‘An Interactive Nutcracker.’ Seeing the audience children’s faces light up as they join us and take in the lights, costumes, and dancing up close. We teach them a dance and the smiles are always ear to ear when they get to perform it and the audience claps for them!”

Some facts about “An Interactive Nutcracker:”

  • The cast is made up entirely of local children from all over Northern Virginia (Manassas, Stafford, Bristow, Fairfax, etc.)
  • Children from the audience are invited up onstage during Act One to get a closer look at Clara’s Holiday party, and to learn and perform a dance.
  • · There are 80 dancers, over 150 costumes, around 50 pairs of pointe shoes and over 200 pounds of sets!
