Overnight lane closures will occur on southbound Interstate 495 (the Capital Beltway Outer Loop) this week for crews to continue installing beams at the Jones Branch Connector bridge, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

From 11:00 p. m. until 5:00 a. m. Tuesday through Friday nights (March 13-16), drivers can expect the following closures:

• Southbound I-495 (the Outer Loop) will be restricted to two left lanes near Jones Branch Drive, with periodic 20-minute total closures from 12:00 midnight to 4:00 a. m.
• Both northbound and southbound 495 Express Lanes ramps to Jones Branch Drive will be closed. Drivers will be detoured to the West Park Drive access point to exit from the Express Lanes.
• There will be periodic 20-minute full closures of the ramp from the eastbound Dulles Toll Road (Route 267) to the Outer Loop.

Drivers are asked to expect delays and use alternate routes.

The work is part of the Jones Branch Connector project, which is scheduled to partially open to traffic in late 2018 with final completion in late 2019.
