We’re over the hump on Tuesday this holiday week! We’re here twice a month to give you the events happening in the area each weekend. Here are just a few of the events happening locally the next two weekends.
The Town of Occoquan and the Occoquan Merchant’s Guild present Occoquan HolidayFest, with in-person and online activities, through Dec. 13. The festival will feature a virtual tree lighting, gingerbread house competition, staged reading of A Christmas Carol, trivia night, holiday market, s’mores & cocoa event, raffle prizes, visit from Santa, seasonal workshops, and more. Stonebridge’s ice rink will open Wednesday, Nov. 25 at 3:30 p.m. Pricing starts at $9.00 for kids, seniors, and military. Skate rental and skate aid is also available. Community Christmas Tree Lighting

A Chanticleer Christmas
The Hylton Performing Arts Center hosts a specially recorded digital performance by Chanticleer! With their signature harmonic blend of 12 male voices ranging from soprano to bass, this festive holiday program features American hymns, Christmas carols from around the world, Gospel melodies, and Renaissance motets. Monthly Bird Walk
Look for birds through the uplands to the edge of the floodplain, covering a variety of habitats, including open fields and woodland edges. Everyone is welcome. Costello Park Tree Lighting
Santa and Manassas Park Parks and Recreation staff will light the Costello Park Christmas Tree on Friday, Dec. 4, at dusk. This event will be held without spectators, and will be livestreamed on the Manassas Park Community Center Facebook page. Families and residents are encouraged to stop by the tree, take their picture, and tag the Community Center on social media. On Christmas morning, Parks and Recreation will unveil a special video of all the families that took a picture in front of the tree! Friday, Dec. 4, dusk (approximately 5:15 p.m.) | Online
Santa Visits Manassas
Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive in a different way this year to light the Christmas tree! He will not be visiting with children after the tree lighting. Friday night will be live-streamed. Wagon rides, ice skating, dining and shopping available through Historic Downtown Manassas. On Saturday, Santa, Mrs. Claus and their entourage travel through Historic Downtown Manassas, up Mathis Avenue and onto Liberia Avenue. They will then visit several neighborhoods throughout the City.
