It’s Wednesday and we’re over the hump! We’re here twice a month to give you the events happening in the area each weekend. Here are just a few of the events happening locally the next few weekends.

Farmers Markets

The City of Manassas Farmers Market will be held at the Harris Pavilion on Saturdays. Saturdays, 9:00 am. to 1:00 p.m. | Harris Pavilion, 9201 Center St., Manassas

The Dale City Farmers Market is a producer-only market, meaning all products must be grown or made by the seller. Sundays, 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. | Dale City Commuter Lot, Dale Boulevard & Gemini Way, Dale City

The Haymarket Farmers Market is now open on Sundays. Sundays, 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. | 15000 Washington St., Haymarket

Occoquan River Blessing of the Fleet

More than 150 recreational boats are anticipated to take part in the area’s 20th annual Blessing of the Fleet. The Blessing of the Fleet is a free event open to all boats in the area. It draws from a fleet of some 2,500 boats on the Occoquan River and thousands more in neighboring areas. Interested spectators can view first responder boats from land at Town of Occoquan’s dock at Mamie Davis Park. Spectators can also watch from the shores of Occoquan Park, or any of the restaurants/marinas along the Occoquan River. Brentsville Jail Exhibit Grand Opening

In its nearly 200-year existence, the Brentsville Jail has seen a lot of different uses. From a jail in the 19th century, to a dormitory, private house, and office space in the 20th century, the building has changed a lot over the years. The Brentsville Jail Exhibit which tells the story of the town of Brentsville and its inhabitants, and highlights the building’s various uses. Join historians and historic interpreters for a day of free tours and programming at the site after a Dedication Ceremony. History Walk on the Boardwalk

Learn history along the Neabsco Creek Boardwalk. This history walk, “Our Neabsco Creek,” is a general overview of the history and environment of the area.  The group will meet at the Rippon Landing Parking Lot on Blackburn Road under the picnic shelter. Leashed pets are welcome to join; not all parts of the hike are accessible for wheelchairs. Space is limited, masks strongly suggested. Advance registration at pwcparks.org/historicprograms. Goat Yoga 

Beginning level yoga. Baby toy goat yoga event featuring adorable baby goats, gentle yoga, and lots of snuggling. Includes gift cheese and farm product “thank-you” packages. Venue follows the Virginia COVID guidelines with distance between each cohort. Therefore, the number of participants will be limited. Asanas for this event (to avoid heavy breathing) will be gentle with stretches. Dr. Marsh will be attending goats and answer goat-related questions. Reserve your space here. Kidsfest and Festival of Kites Spring Fair

Bring all the kids to enjoy a full day of fun and flying kites just in time to celebrate the International Kids Day! All activities are weather dependent and may change based on CDC and local regulations. There will be lots of arts & crafts vendors, food and live entertainment!
