The Arts

In “Elf the Musical,” it’s Christmas time at the North Pole and Buddy, the lovable elf, has just discovered that he is different from the other elves. Just hear those sleigh bells jinglin’ as the American Festival Pops Orchestra ushers in the season with its annual holiday concert. The uplifting evening includes Leroy Anderson’s “Sleigh Ride,” “A Christmas Festival,” a rousing carol sing-a-long, and special guest artists. Maestro Anthony Maiello leads Northern Virginia’s pops orchestra in this lively, family-friendly evening of musical merriment. Click here for tickets. Prince William Little Theatre presents “A Charlie Brown Christmas” by arrangement with Tams-Witmark, A Concord Theatricals Company. Charlie Brown and the rest of the gang of Peanuts characters created by Charles M. Schulz come to life in this stage adaptation of the beloved television special by Bill Melendez and Lee Mendelson with music by Vince Guaraldi. Tickets available here. Santa is visiting the Manassas Park Community Center! Children of all ages are welcome to join Santa for breakfast, play games, crafts, and more. Children under the age of 2 are included in the parent’s registration. Pajamas are encouraged. $5 per person. Bring the kids to the National Museum of the Marine Corps’ Medal of Honor Theater to see Warner Bros.’s THE POLAR EXPRESS! The Manassas Park Light Parade is an amazing display of lights on wheels. It’s sure to get you in the Christmas spirit! The parade begins at 5:45 p.m. at the intersection of Manassas Drive and Carondelet Drive and ends at the Community Center (99 Adams Street). Don’t miss WinterFest in Lake Ridge and Occoquan! The celebration begins with Santa’s Lake Ridge Parade on Harbor Drive in Lake Ridge at 11:00 a.m. It’s followed by a Winter Wonderland at Tackett’s Mill, which lasts until 2:00 p.m., when Santa will cruise in to Occoquan’s Mamie Davis Park on a boat. He’ll head over to Town Hall at 314 Mill Street for pictures until 4:00 p.m., when the rest of the festivities in Occoquan begin. Come with your whole family and experience the Christmas story at the Drive-Thru Nativity. This outdoor event is a wonderful way to bring the Christmas story to life! The community is invited to drive through the church parking lot to view twelve “scenes” from that very first Christmas.
