It’s Wednesday and we’re Over the Hump! That means we’re looking forward to weekend events. Mother’s Day is Sunday, so we’ll start out with local events celebrating moms.

Mother’s Day Events

On Saturday and Sunday, all Prince William County Historic Preservation Division sites will offer free tours to mothers and children under 6. Visitors will see beautiful historic houses, picturesque gardens, and hear juicy, dramatic stories of the past. Free refreshments available as well. Ladies Choice Multisport Festival is a women’s race including triathlon, duathlon, aqua-bike, aqua-thon and tri-relay teams. Wonderful way to start off your Mother’s Day celebration! The distances are short, the course is basically flat, and the atmosphere is fun and friendly! Celebrate Mother’s Day at the National Museum of the Marine Corps! Treat Mom to a special a-la-carte brunch menu in Tun Tavern. Be Queen for the Day and celebrate Mother’s Day at Effingham Manor Winery. Treat yourself and do a little shopping with vendors such as Touchstone Crystal Jewelry, My Glass Garden and Tupperware. Manassas Olive Oil will be partnering with Effingham Manor and offering free tastings of a few wines paired with their flavored balsamic vinegars. Sangria is also now available for the summer! The Pied Piper Theatre is presenting “Annie” this weekend. The beloved redhead will leap from the comic strip and into your heart as she searches for her parents. Aided by the other orphans, Annie escapes from the cruel Ms. Hannigan’s orphanage and goes out in 1930s New York City to begin her search, making many new friends along the way.
