Protecting your “crown” truly is self-care! This doesn’t mean visiting the beauty salon on a regular basis and getting the latest style. It also doesn’t mean investing in high quality jewels and making sure they’re properly shined and locked in a case. Protecting your crown is about taking the time to take care of your mind, body and spirit with similar regard we apply to taking care of others.
This past weekend, the Neville Empowerment Network, Inc. did just that, at the “Own Your POWER: Women’s Empowerment Retreat!” Each year we organize an event that allows a group a women from all areas of the Commonwealth, and all walks of life, to join us at a cottage in the woods, to disconnect from the daily stresses of life, and reconnect to themselves and their position of power.
Benefits of the retreat include, but are not limited to:
- Reduced stress in women
- Promotion of healthy lifestyles
- Positive social interactions with like-minded women
- Tools to deal with stress through yoga and meditation
- Rest and relaxation in a serene environment
- Activities that are conducive to personal and professional growth
This year’s retreat also included access to professional development through the “SHEro Empowerment Sessions.” Topics included Understanding Parlimentary Procedure, Understanding and Improving your Credit Score, Maintaining your Balance while Being the Boss, and Weathering the Storms of Entrepreneurship!”
The following women facilitated sessions: Mrs. Nicole Brown – Nikki’s Christian Daycare, Mrs. Vivian Henderson, Esq., Mrs. Tanikka Mason, LCSW – Second Chances Comprehensive Services and Marco’s Pizza (Chester, Virginia), Ms. Sylvia Watford – Virginia Credit Union.
