MANASSAS, Va. – People Incorporated will host a series of community forums called Bridging the Digital Divide in Manassas Park and Prince William County to hear directly from local community members about challenges to accessing broadband internet and digital devices like smartphones and more. Forums are open to the public with opportunities to be entered to win a raffle prize. Food is also provided.

“This is the first step in an effort to collect data and feedback from community members about their experiences accessing internet and digital devices like computers, smartphones, and more,” said People Incorporated Vice President for Planning & Evaluation Kelli Smith.

The first forum in Prince William County takes place at the Potomac Library in Woodbridge on Tuesday, May 23 beginning at 3:30 p.m. Another forum will be held at the Manassas Park Community Center at 99 Adams Street on Thursday, June 1 beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Registration for the forums is not required but is encouraged. Community members can register by visiting and navigating to the registration page.

Feedback collected during the forums will be used to help develop the statewide Commonwealth Opportunity Plan in partnership with the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development. People Incorporated is a non-profit Community Action Agency with seven offices across Virginia. The agency was awarded Digital Equity Act funds from DHCD earlier this year to assist in identifying barriers to broadband and digital device access for populations identified by the Digital Equity act. This effort will address affordability of internet services and devices, technology skills, and online privacy.
