For over 100 years, Philadelphians have flocked to Broad Street on New Year’s Day to celebrate their beloved Mummers Parade – an event often called the oldest folk festival in the U.S.

Come join tens of thousands of cheering Philadelphians as they revel in the Mummers’ timeless pageantry. Witness the dazzling array of fancy, colorful costumes, festooned with brilliant materials, glitter, sequins and feathers. Enjoy the elaborate floats and the unique sound of the Mummers’ String Bands. Laugh at the antics of the Comics as they perform outrageous skits and send-ups of pop culture and politics.

The parade fun begins Sunday, January 1, 2017, at 9:00 a. m. at City Hall, then continues down Broad Street until all 10,000+ Mummers have made the procession. (Often lasting into the early evening.)

In addition, Mummers fans can take in the Fancy Brigade Finale – an event that is sometimes described as a cross between a Broadway show and Mardi Gras. With its elaborate costumes and massive props, the Fancy Brigade Finale is a two-and-a-half-hour, stunning, colorful, high-energy showcase of 11 masterfully choreographed, four-and-a-half-minute routines set to high-energy music. The show features more than 2,500 Fancy Brigade performers all working for a full year to create the themes, costumes, props and drills that comprise the show and dazzle the audiences. The Fancy Brigade Finale is held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, 11th and Arch streets in Philadelphia. For more information go to and
