The 495 (Capital Beltway) Outer Loop Express Lanes will be closed from the Northern Entrance and the Dulles Toll Road (Route 267) to the Jones Branch Drive interchange the weekend of March 9 to install beams for the Jones Branch Connector bridge, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

The closure will occur from 11:00 p. m. Friday, March 9 to 4:00 a. m. Monday, March 12.

During the closure, drivers will be unable to enter the southbound 495 Express Lanes from the southbound general purpose lanes on I-495, the Dulles Toll Road entry point or the Jones Branch entry point.

A detour will be in place to provide traffic with access to the southbound 495 Express Lanes via the Westpark Drive entry point. Traffic will be detoured via the Outer Loop general purpose lanes, southbound Route 123 (Exit 46A), Tysons Boulevard, Galleria Drive and Westpark Drive back to the southbound Express Lanes.

Also on the above dates and times, the ramp from the eastbound Dulles Toll Road to the southbound Outer Loop Express Lanes will also be closed; traffic will be detoured via the ramp from eastbound Dulles Toll Road to the Outer Loop general purpose lanes, southbound Route 123 (Exit 46A), Tysons Boulevard, Galleria Drive and Westpark Drive back to the Express Lanes.

Single lane closures along the same stretch of the 495 Express Lanes will extend into the week of March 12 and March 19, however the Lanes will remain fully open.

The work is part of the Jones Branch Connector project, which is scheduled to partially open to traffic in late 2018 with final completion in late 2019.
