KPWB- Keep Prince William Beautiful

Keep Prince William Beautiful (KPWB) has various fundraising, volunteer and overall family-friendly events this spring and this is the perfect time to get involved in your community.

Our third quarter Litter Survey. focusing on 22 key areas of Prince William County, is happening soon! Those who volunteer for the program receive training and then spend the morning riding around the county with KPWB, rating the amount of litter they see using a 1 to 4 litter index scale. The results of the survey are used by us, Prince William County government, and national litter organizations to determine the cost of litter to the environment. PWL Previous volunteers found this a rewarding experience, and they were able to recognize how much litter is currently impacting our community. According to Keep America Beautiful, the presence of litter can decrease property value by 7% and increase crime. Mark your calendars for February 24, 2016 and join KPWB 8:45 a.m .– 1:00 p.m. to make a difference! This date may change depending on weather conditions; please let us know if you want to be on our contact list.

Can’t make it to the Litter Survey? On Saturday, April 16, 2016, our Great American Clean Up on Route 1 will need as many helping hands as possible! Focusing on one of the key areas in Prince William County, we are encouraging groups, families and individuals to volunteer and help build a sustainable future for our community. This is also a great opportunity to show children that they can be involved and be the change we need, no matter what age they are. The more volunteers we have, the more crucial clean-up areas that will be covered, and the more trash and recyclables collected. Please make plans to support the success of this event by spreading the word and volunteering from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

Once you finish volunteering, reward yourself with a fun day out on the following Saturday, April 23, 2016, at our Keep Prince William Beautiful Festival. In partnership with the Potomac Nationals, this family event is PET FRIENDLY and is FREE to the public, featuring community businesses and vendors, environmental educational showcases, games, great food from area food trucks and many other surprises for all ages! If you’re interested in becoming a vendor, spots are limited, so contact us today!

Lastly, enjoy a night out while supporting KPWB efforts at Bahama Breeze in Woodbridge. This fundraiser includes unlimited appetizers, a drink ticket, outside deck seating, live music and so much more! We will also have a Silent Auction throughout the night. KPWB’s Tropical Escape Summer Fundraiser will be the place to be on May 26th, 2016, 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Tickets are $40 and funds will be used towards our summer community programs- please bring friends and family.
