The Prince William County Community Foundation (PWCCF) proudly announces the appointment of Monaé Nickerson as the new Chair of the Board of Directors. A beacon of community enhancement and empowerment, Nickerson’s journey as Vice Mayor of Dumfries, and her extensive history of public service and advocacy, mark her as an exemplary leader for this role.
Elected to her second term as Vice Mayor in 2022, Nickerson has been a dynamic force in the community, initiating impactful programs and steadfastly advocating for the needs of residents. Her proactive response during the Thanksgiving power outage and her persistent advocacy for infrastructure improvement underscore her commitment to effective and responsive leadership.
Nickerson’s extensive experience in organizing community-centric events, such as the transformative
one-stop-shop expungement clinic, has set a model across Northern Virginia. This initiative has opened
new employment and housing opportunities for countless individuals. Additionally, her leadership in
organizing the inaugural Pink and Purple Brunch and Men’s Health Event has significantly raised health
awareness in the community.
With over 25 years dedicated to community service, her contributions have extended well beyond her
political office. Serving in the Prince William County Community Foundation since 2021, her recent
appointment as Chair of the Board of Directors is a testament to her unwavering commitment to societal
As a longstanding Prince William County Election Officer, Nickerson has been a vocal advocate for civic
engagement and voter empowerment. Her involvement with the NLC Federal Advocacy Committee for
Public Safety and Crime Prevention and her reelection as Regional Director for NBC-LEO Region 3 (KY, DE,
DC, VA, MD) further demonstrate her belief in the power of informed and active communities.
Living by her motto “#DontJustComplain_Contribute,” Monaé Nickerson’s appointment is a significant
milestone for PWCCF. Her vision and leadership are set to drive meaningful change and continue the
