Potomac Health Foundation, in partnership with Prince William Public Library System (PWPLS) and the Foundation Center, are pleased to announce the opening of the first Funding Information Network in Prince William County.

Nonprofit organizations and other grant seekers in Prince William County looking for funding sources now have access to a valuable new collection of resources at Chinn Park Regional Library, which has become a Funding Information Network partner with Foundation Center.

The network provides tools and resources consisting of Foundation Center databases, publications, and other services useful to grant seekers. The online database Funding Information Network partners provide under-resourced and underserved populations in need of vital information and training with tools they can use to become successful grant seekers. Located throughout the country and around the world, Funding Information Network partners offer free access to Foundation Center’s detailed information on grant makers and applying for grants. Foundation Center’s core collection of resources includes Foundation Directory Online, profiling more than 140,000 U.S. grant makers, Foundation Grants to Individuals Online, Foundation Maps, print directories, and proposal writing guides.

Staff at Chinn Park Regional Library within the PWPLS MAGIC (Management and Government Information Center) will be cross trained on how to use the network and assist grant researchers. In addition, the Foundation Center and PWPLS also hold training sessions on how to effectively use these resources and identify potential funders.

“Increasing library resources for our community has been a goal for me, and adding the Funding Information Network to Prince William Public Library’s services is an excellent means to do just that. I am grateful for the partnership between the Potomac Health Foundation and our own Library Foundation to employ a searchable database that provides information on nearly 10,000 grant makers.  This resource can be extremely valuable to our nonprofits, small business owners and entrepreneurs.  I also believe that housing this new offering at Chinn Park Regional Library facilitated by our Management and Business Information Center will only enhance the service with additional trainings and on-site assistance,” said Deborah Wright, Library Director, Prince William Public Library System.

Funding and support for the Funding Information Network is provided by Potomac Health Foundation, an independent, private foundation whose mission is to increase the health of the community by increasing access to health care for the medically underserved.

“Potomac Health Foundation is proud to support the Funding Information Network at Chinn Library. To have such a resource available locally for grantseekers and non-profits has limitless potential and impact, especially as new grant opportunities are identified and those grants are secured and lead to new services and programs for the community,” said Timothy McCue, Director of Grant Programs.

Chinn Park Regional Library is located at 13065 Chinn Park Drive, Woodbridge.
