REALTOR® Association of Prince William (PWAR) has gathered Prince William County’s most recent market statistics, generated by SmartCharts, an affiliate website of Real Estate Business Intelligence (RBI). The market statistics are gathered through data provided by the Metropolitan Regional Information System (MRIS), which serves as the multiple listing service for Prince William County.
A total of 672 homes were sold in March 2017, a significant increase of 14.3 percent compared to March 2016 closed sales. The number of new pending increased by 4.0 percent year-over-year, from 965 pending to 1,004. Active listings fell again this month with 1,183 active listings in March, compared to 1,483 in 2016. New listings also fell slightly this month by 4.0 percent year-over-year, from 1,355 new listings to 1,301. The median sold price of homes continues to gain strength, increasing 3.2 percent to $330,000 as compared to last year ($319,700).
REALTOR® Association of Prince William CEO April Thomas says, “The first quarter of 2017 indicates a year of continued growth in Virginia’s residential real estate market. With particularly strong sales in March and prices rising consistently on high buyer motivation, performance in the first quarter of 2017 rose notably from the same period in 2016.”
