Working as a substitute teacher with Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS) may be the perfect job for you. A substitute teacher is a professional who works in the absence of the teacher and helps ensure that learning and achievement for all continues while the teacher is out.
There are hundreds of people who regularly work as a PWCS substitute. Several started their career this past year, while others have worked with PWCS for many years. Here are some comments on why they keep coming back:

If you are a college student who wants to work periodically, a stay-at-home parent or guardian, someone who would like to become a teacher and wants classroom experience, or a retiree who wants to work part-time, working as a substitute will allow you to create your own work schedule and choose which location(s) you would like to work. It is also a fun and rewarding way to give back to the community and make a difference in a student’s life.
A substitute teacher include must have 48 or more approved college credits. Substitute teacher assistant positions require a high school diploma or general education diploma (GED). The rate of pay for a substitute teacher is $19.45/hour and a substitute teacher assistant rate of pay is $17.60/hour. Substitute teacher assistants typically work in a special education classroom supporting and assisting the teacher in working with students.
