By Rebecca Barnes, Publisher, Prince William Living
Jo McCabe has been nominated for the Prince William Living Influential Women Awards for her exceptional leadership in business, veteran advocacy, and community service across Prince William County.
As the owner of Mr. Handyman of Northern Virginia, Jo employs residents while strengthening the skilled trades workforce. She also serves as Chair of the Board of Prince William Habitat for Humanity and as a Board Member of the Prince William Chamber of Commerce, providing strategic leadership for housing and economic initiatives.
Jo’s nomination highlights her long-running National Day of Service, which she has led for 15 consecutive years. Each year, she shuts down her business to provide free home repairs to a local military veteran. What began as a single-company effort has grown into a community-wide initiative involving dozens of companies, delivering more than $940,000 in donated labor and materials.
A retired Navy officer, Jo also mentors emerging business owners and leads by example. Her influence connects businesses, nonprofits, and volunteers around shared goals that strengthen the region.
Jo McCabe is nominated because she consistently turns leadership into action, creating measurable impact while inspiring others to serve.
