Are you a local writer who wants to help promote Prince William and Greater Manassas? We are looking for an enthusiastic freelance writer to join our editorial team. You will work closely with the editor-in-chief, online editors, and admin. At this time, we are seeking writers to cover planned stories based on our Editorial Calendar. This includes features on broader topics, as well as stories on area restaurants, destinations, nonprofits, artists, and events. If you are not familiar with this style of writing Read this tutorial to get started. (We LOVE essayists for online – they just don’t fit our print format.)As a staff writer, you should be able to perform thorough research on various topics and have a keen eye for detail.
Ultimately, you should be able to deliver good quality content for our magazine columns, articles, and features. By applying you agree you will be available for a minimum of one assignment a month. (average)

Requirements
- Working knowledge of AP style
- Proven work experience as a staff writer or reporter
- Demonstrable portfolio of published articles
- Computer proficiency (MS Office, digital editing, web search, and databases)
- Excellent writing skills in English
- Ability to follow strict deadlines and fact-check information
- Broad knowledge of headlines
