(2300 Vantage Dr, Woodbridge, VA 22191). Presenting a lively panel discussion by opinionated and engaged community advocates, Prince William County Smart Chicks on Politics and Entertainment (“PWC SCOPE”) will host the event to launch its series of online videos featuring fresh, unfiltered dialogue about areas of special importance to women of color.

Utilizing a panel talk show format, Hala Ayala, Sheyna Burt, Marlo Thomas Watson, and Ramunda Lark Young, have come together as scopefriends, activists, and the ladies of PWC SCOPE to explore “squirm-worthy” themes. “Our hope is that each episode will encourage members of this community to be bold about tackling even the most difficult of topics. Race, class, gender – no challenge is insurmountable if we are brave enough to speak honestly about it,” said Sheyna Burt.

Inspired by the frank but supportive discussion that often happens during the breaking of bread, each episode features one of the area’s signature eating establishments. “Something magical happens when you combine food, candid conversation and four women leaders. The hope is that our community benefits in some poignant way,” says Ramunda Lark Young. PWC SCOPE’s venue sponsors have included Okra’s Cajun Creole in Manassas and La Travinia in Woodbridge.

As a precursor to the live event, the community is invited to visit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1sr86gybKf0#action=share to view PWC SCOPE’s inaugural episode which features a discussion of cultural appropriation and Rachel Dolezal. The November 16th event will begin with an informal viewing of that episode over drinks and hors d’oeuvres before the panel and attendees gather to record a discussion of the topic of the day: “Does #BlackLivesMatter Matter?” Audience input will be a critical part of this taping.

Tickets to the viewing party and live taping are free, but extremely limited. Pre-registration can be accomplished by visiting https://www.eventbrite.com/e/pwc-scope-launch-party-tickets-19269231791?utm-medium=discovery&utm-campaign=social&utm-content=attendeeshare&aff=esfb&utm-source=fb&utm-
