Prince William County Public Schools has received recognition for energy savings, winning first place in the academic category at the Virginia Energy Efficiency Leadership Awards hosted by the Virginia Energy Efficiency Council.

Since 2012, the School Division has avoided over $25 million in utility expense by creating a culture of conservation among staff and students.

“Much can be achieved by working together to operate our facilities, designing energy-efficient buildings, and following best practices to reduce our carbon footprint,” said Associate Superintendent for Finance and Support Services Dave Cline.

The PWCS Energy Management Team is led by Brian Gorham, administrative coordinator. PWCS has earned other recognition for energy management, including Energy Star Certifications and Go Green VA! Awards.

Moseley Architects nominated PWCS for the Energy Efficiency Leadership Award.
