Members of Prince William County’s largest professional trade association gathered in Richmond for REALTOR® Day on the Hill on February 8, 2017. In conjunction with Virginia REALTORS®, REALTOR® Association of Prince William (PWAR) members met to speak with their respective Virginia General Assembly representatives. The Virginia REALTORS® have introduced four bills again this year pertaining to property management, homeowner associations, and consumer protections. Staff is monitoring over 200 bills that could impact REALTORS® and homebuyers.

“REALTOR® Day on the Hill is truly a special day – from the comradery of REALTORS® sharing one voice, to the genuine care and concern of our State Representatives,” said Jim Croson, PWAR Vice-President. “Where else can you experience lawmakers taking time out of their busiest season to give you their attention, listen, and discuss what is important to our Industry? I always come away from this day feeling a part of something so large and powerful, yet so personal knowing that my input matters.”

Bill Burke, PWAR Member and Virginia RPAC Trustee noted, “the meetings in which I participated surfaced some dynamite suggestions to help the advancement of home ownership for the owners’ benefit, and opened conversations about what we as REALTORS® could put forward to encourage State and Municipal jurisdictions to do their part. As REALTORS®, we are presumed to be professionals. Sales volume is great, but if knowing you can influence for the general good of folks and you do it, you have done more than your ‘job’.”
