On the morning of Saturday, September 17, 2016, nearly 50 people came together in Woodbridge for a 5K Walk/Run. The event – titled PWAR & YPN Race for a Child – was hosted by REALTOR® Association of Prince William (PWAR) and sponsored by nine local businesses. The race started and finished at the PWAR building on Daisy Reid Ave.

Awards were presented to the Top 3 Adult participants as well as Top 3 children. Matt Webster, Vern McHargue and Dee Gladstone took 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, respectively, in the adult category while Chris Ramey, Jackson McHargue and Colton Kocher came in 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, respectively, in the children (15 and under) category. Adults and children alike embraced the superhero theme and the best dressed was awarded to Colton Kocher who dressed as Batman.

Event sponsors included ADT LLC, Appleton Campbell, Atlantic Coast Mortgage, Commission Express of Prince William, Fidelity Bank Mortgage, George Mason Mortgage, Pop-A-Lock of Northern Virginia and Tidewater Mortgage Services, Inc.

This community event benefited the local Boys & Girls Club of Prince William County/Manassas, whose mission is to help boys and girls of all backgrounds, especially those who need us most, build confidence, develop character and acquire skills needed to become productive, civic-minded, responsible adults. PWAR representatives visited the Boys & Girls Hylton Club on Dale Boulevard earlier this month for a brief tour and to present the clubs with proceeds from the event.

“We were thrilled to present the Boys & Girls Club of Prince William County/Manassas with a contribution of $1,000 from our event,” said Chief Executive Officer April Thomas. “This effort would not have been possible without the participants, donors and sponsors – they are the true superheroes. REALTOR® Association of Prince William and our members are committed to giving back in our community and are proud to be a supporter of our local Boys & Girls Club.”
