Congresswoman Barbara Comstock (R-VA) released the following statement after the Senate passed her legislation H.R. 3249, the Project Safe Neighborhoods Grant Program Authorization Act of 2017, anti-gang legislation which would establish a grant program to provide resources to state and local entities to curb the rise in gang activity and violence.

“Gangs like MS-13 have threatened our communities for too long.  Our Regional Gang Task Forces such as the Northern Virginia Regional Gang Task Force are a critical tool in the fight against gang violence and I am pleased that the Senate passed this important legislation so the House can vote and we can send this bill to the President for his signature.  Our law enforcement and gang task forces need these critical resources to combat transnational gangs like MS-13 and keep our communities safe.”
