Congresswoman Barbara Comstock
Congresswoman Barbara Comstock (R-VA) released the following statement after the House passed by voice vote H.R. 5732, the Caesar Syria Civilian Protection Act, a bill that she cosponsored to impose sanctions on individuals who have perpetrated war crimes and crimes against humanity against the Syrian people:
“I thank my colleagues for supporting this bipartisan legislation to impose sanctions on those perpetuating the ongoing security and humanitarian crisis in Syria. The horrors Bashar al-Assad and his despotic regime continue to commit against the people of Syria necessitate serious action. The Administration has blocked these sanctions for far too long and I am pleased that Republicans and Democrats came together today to take a stand against the Assad Regime and its allies in response to years of atrocities committed against the Syrian people.”
