Rite of Passage: A Journey through Black Identity and Transformation is a Black History Month art exhibition at the Montclair Library exploring Black identity, memory, and becoming through painting and mixed media. It is a solo art exhibit by Kwaku Ofori-Yirenkyi.

Rite of Passage captures individuals in quiet, meditative moments of transformation. Through obscured faces, layered fabric, and expressive gesture, the work reflects on family, cultural inheritance, and the experiences that shape us across generations. The exhibition frames rites of passage not as a single event, but as a lifelong process of becoming.

The exhibit runs from Jan. 21 to March 19, 2026 at Montclair Library.
