Please keep eyes on an evolving forecast, asks the Virginia Department of Transportation, as a chance of snow showers in Northern Virginia repeats for Tuesday’s a.m. commute.

Tonight, crews will load salt and sand, and stage roadside by 3:00 a. m. They will remain on duty through Tuesday to treat roads as needed, with pavement temperatures again expected to be near freezing.

Residual salt and sand remains on roads from this morning, and will help prevent snow from sticking as it begins overnight and crews begin rolling.

Drivers are asked to:

·         Monitor forecasts closely, as storm timing and intensity can change.

·         Check road conditions before leaving; adjust commutes or allow extra travel time.

·         Reduce speeds; use headlights; do not overdrive conditions.
