The Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative (NOVEC) Board of Directors announced that David E. Schleicher became president and CEO of the organization on April 2, 2022.
Board Chairman Wade C. House says, “The Board is confident Dave will provide the vision, expertise, and leadership to successfully guide NOVEC through the issues facing the electric industry, while building upon the cooperative’s long history of service reliability, financial soundness, and customer satisfaction.”
During his five years at NOVEC, Schleicher has held several leadership positions, most recently as chief operating officer.
“I am humbled, yet very excited, to lead such a dynamic and committed team,” Schleicher says. “We are setting a high bar to provide quality service to our members, to be a great place for employees to work, and to be a valued member of our communities.”
Schleicher has more than 40 years of combined experience with investor- and member-owned electric utilities. In his previous leadership positions at NOVEC, Schleicher was responsible for engineering functions such as system planning, distribution design, and substation design; operating functions like substation maintenance and the fiber optic network; and corporate administration functions including purchasing, warehousing, facilities management, and transportation.
Prior to joining NOVEC, he held leadership roles with EnergyUnited EMC in central North Carolina as vice president, engineering and operations; and with PPL Electric Utilities in south-central Pennsylvania as vice president, transmission; and director, engineering and design.
Schleicher holds a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Drexel University and a Master of Business Administration in operations management from the University of Scranton. He is a registered professional engineer in Virginia and Pennsylvania.
“Dave’s broad electric utility experience and industry knowledge will greatly benefit the cooperative, our customers and employees,” House added.
