The Prince William Board of County Supervisors (BOCS) got their first look at the school division’s fiscal 2019 budget at their April 3 meeting. School Board Vice Chairman Lillie Jessie presented details of the School Board approved budget that meets the needs of more than 91,000 students and 10,500 School Division employees next year and into the future.
County Supervisors, School Board members, Superintendent Walts and staff had a productive exchange on topics ranging from acquiring land for school construction to teacher salaries and benefits as well as school security.
Funding from county revenue provides approximately half of the total PWCS budget. Final BOCS approval for the school budget is needed by April 30. Any BOCS changes in expected revenue would require the School Board to alter its spending plans.
