Gina Bellamy has been appointed by Governor Ralph S. Northam to serve on the board of the Virginia Foundation for Healthy Youth. Bellamy is PWCS coordinator of school health services.
The Foundation promotes active, nutritious, and tobacco-free living, and addresses obesity in youth through grants for classroom-based prevention programs.
Bellamy is president-elect of the Virginia Association of School Nurses and has presented at local and state conferences. She served as a school nurse for Prince William County Public Schools from 2000 to 2016, when she was named to her current position.
A National Board-Certified School Nurse, Bellamy earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Alabama in Huntsville. She also earned a certificate in health care administration from Old Dominion University College of Health Sciences, and a master’s degree in administration from Central Michigan University. She served in the United States Navy Nurse Corps from 1987-1990 at the Naval Regional Medical Center-Charleston, South Carolina.
