What are you and your tweens or teens doing Saturday, Feb. 11?

Coming to ScribbleCon at Benton Middle School, of course!

This event brings Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS) parents/guardians together with their middle school or high school students for a day of writing side-by-side.

Families can choose from a variety of no-cost sessions and enjoy the experience as a community of writers.

Teacher, Write by the Rails board member, writer and Spilled Ink (Virginia) founder John Dutton has organized the creative day for PWCS.

Dutton said, “ScibbleCon celebrates writing, for writing is such a great escape. It can take you anywhere. And don’t worry if you think you can’t do it. You can. As I always tell students and writers, just write, and you’ll be right.”

Interactive workshops will run from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and cover a variety of genres and topics. Each workshop will be facilitated by a professional, local writer who will also have books on hand for sales and signing. An adults-only writing session will run from 3:15 to 4:00 p.m.

Parent and guardians who wish to write with their PWCS middle school or high school children may click here to register now.

Dutton encourages parents and the public to share the invite and registration link with PWCS middle and high school teachers.

Benton Middle School is located at 7411 Hoadly Road, Manassas. For more information, email John Dutton at
