Provided by Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center
Flu season is here, and Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center (SNVMC) is hosting a FREE drive-thru flu event on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2025, in the hospital’s main parking lot at 2300 Opitz Blvd., Woodbridge.
Sentara drive-thru flu event is a safe, fast, and convenient way to get your annual flu shot — all from the comfort of your vehicle.
This free event is open to adults ages 18 and older, who can receive a free flu shot from the convenience of their vehicles.
The clinics will be held rain or shine, and vaccinations will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. Appointments are not required.
“When you get vaccinated, you protect yourself from a serious illness that could lead to hospitalization,” said SNVMC President Jeff Joyner. “We encourage everyone to make flu vaccination a priority.”
Sentara will hold 17 drive-thru flu clinics throughout Northern Virginia, Hampton Roads, Harrisonburg, Charlottesville, South Boston, and northeast North Carolina.
Each clinic will be prepared to administer hundreds of flu shots, for a total of more than 4,540 flu vaccines available across the locations.
A limited number of Fluad vaccines, designed for seniors ages 65 and older, will be available at each location.
While peak flu activity is months away, healthcare leaders stress the importance of getting vaccinated early to reduce the spread of influenza and protect those at risk of severe illness.
“Getting a flu shot is a quick, safe way to protect ourselves and our families from serious illness,” said Dr. Bogdan Neughebauer, market chief medical officer, Sentara Health. “The flu vaccine decreases the risk for severe sickness, reduces hospitalizations, and helps keep our community healthier throughout the season.”
Who should get a flu shot?
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Sentara recommend that everyone six months of age and older get a flu shot.
It is crucial for individuals at high risk for serious flu complications, including young children, pregnant people, adults 65 and older, and those with underlying health conditions.
A flu shot is a safe and effective vaccine that helps your body build immunity to the flu viruses predicted to be most common this season.
Flu shots are available across Sentara locations, including primary care offices, urgent care centers, pharmacies, and community clinics.
