March is the month to promote Severe Weather Awareness and Flood Awareness! Severe Weather Awareness Week is March 4 to 8, followed by Flood Awareness week March 10 to 16. Severe Weather Awareness Week highlights threats from severe weather and how to prepare for them.

Each day during the week, a different topic will be covered and shared on the Prince William County Emergency Management Facebook and X social media including preparedness tips and ways to stay safe during severe weather. Flood Awareness Week highlights the hazards that flooding can cause, and how to protect yourself, your family and your property from these dangers. You can also find preparedness and safety tips at pwcva.gov/ready.

As part of Severe Weather Preparedness Week, the Virginia Statewide Tornado Drill will take place on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at 9:45 a.m. Join in at school, at work and at home to practice your severe weather shelter plan!

Both weeks are a great time to make and practice your emergency plan and to build and update your emergency supply kit! Visit pwcva.gov/ready to learn more about hazards that may impact Prince William County and how to be better prepared for them.
