On Sunday, Oct. 4, Ean Helmlinger of Scout Troop 1882 was presented his Eagle Scout medal at a Court of Honor in Catharpin.  Michael E. Weyler, President of the Colonel William Grayson Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR), presented Ean with his Certificate of Recognition and SAR-Boy Scouts of America Partners for Good Citizenship Patch.

Ean, winner of 32 merit badges, is a leader in his Troop and in his community.  As a competitive swimmer, Ean completed a major Eagle Scout project that brought three local competitive swim teams together. Their combined effort collected equipment to support a new swim program for children with Down’s Syndrome.

Ean is currently a Senior at Battlefield High School in the IT Program and plans to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering and patent law.  He has earned varsity letters in academics and swimming in each of the last three years. As a varsity athlete, Ean hopes to continue his swim career competing on a college team.

The Scout Oath includes, “On my honor, I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country….”  With young men like Ean and other Eagle Scouts, proven leaders, we can have confidence in America’s future.
