The 10th annual Spring Forward Family Fun Day, an annual gathering of families formed through foster care, adoption and kinship extended family care will be held Saturday, April 22 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The event is a great opportunity for families and family-serving professionals to gain new skills and connect with others who share similar experience.

Spring Forward Family Fun Day is held at GMU’s Science and Technology Campus, 10900 University Blvd., Manassas. The theme of this year’s event is “Connecting to Move Forward.” Parents and caregivers will spend the morning together, kicked off with a keynote address “It Only Takes One: The Power of Connection” by GMU’s Dr. Shekila Melchior. Breakout sessions follow with topics including parenting children and youth with trauma, preparing for encounters with law enforcement, and caregiving for those with disabilities.

While adults and professionals learn, children and youth enjoy a morning of nature-based experiential learning and team-building activities at The EDGE adventure course. This inclusive opportunity is made available through the on-site support of dozens of dedicated volunteers. Click here to register.

Individuals are invited to donate to a youth scholarship fund which will help support over 70 scholarships. This will allow families to enroll their children and youth completely free of charge. Donations to the child and youth scholarships though GoFundMe can be made here.
