Stonewall Jackson High School was recently recognized with two honors: the National Association for Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation SupportMusic Merit Award and the Virginia Music Educators Association (VMEA) Blue Ribbon School Award.
The NAMM Foundation SupportMusic Merit Award recognizes schools that show support of and dedication to quality music education. This is the fourth year in a row that Stonewall Jackson has been given this award. Stonewall Jackson is the only school in Prince William County, one of four schools in the state, and one of 98 schools nationally to be recognized with this award.
Stonewall Jackson was also awarded the VMEA Blue Ribbon School Award for its symphonic band, chamber orchestra, and vocal ensemble all receiving superior ratings at District Assessment. This is the school’s third year in a row and fourth time overall receiving this award. Stonewall Jackson was one of five PWCS schools to earn this distinction. Battlefield, Colgan, and Woodbridge High Schools and Benton Middle School also received this award.
Congratulations to Stonewall Jackson and the other schools awarded for their excellence in music performance!
