For a pregnant mother fleeing unsafe living situations with her toddler, that first step toward Virginia Women and Family Support Center takes immense courage. She doesn’t know if anyone will help. She doesn’t know if her life can change. She just knows she can’t go back.
When she arrives at Virginia Women and Family Support Center, everything changes.
VAWFSC doesn’t offer a bed for a night. They offer a home for up to two years in Phase 1. In Phase 1 of their program, they provide comprehensive support: prenatal care, counseling, parenting classes, job training, childcare, life skills mentoring, and case management that treats each woman as a whole person, not just a housing statistic. After a mom graduates from Phase 1, they are eligible for Phase 2 in their Manassas House for an additional two years. Phase 2 ensures that moms get into home ownership after the program ends.
