Gaming is moving beyond the image of a lone gamer in a dark basement playing for endless hours. One local business is combining the joy and strategy of gaming with the in-person social aspect, where friends and family can hang out and play together. Woodbridge venue Tech Time Gaming Lounge offers a high-tech place where gamers of all ages can come to play from a huge selection of games with each other or alone, in a modern, clean space.

How Tech Time Started

Tech Time Gaming Owner and President, Steve Theobald, played Atari as a kid in the 1980s and remains a big kid at heart. About two years ago, he sold his very grown-up document shredding company and decided to get into a more fun and entertaining business, making him seem like the coolest dad around to his three little boys.

It started with Theobald hearing a panel discussion on e-sports, which opened his eyes to e-sport tournaments, watching gamers play on streaming media with his kids, and researching and partnering with E-Blue, a Hong Kong-based maker of gaming gear and LAN centers.

After doing his research, it was an easy decision for Theobald to open up a gaming lounge here in the Prince William region. “The zoning in Prince William County was easier than Fairfax for this type of gaming lounge, and Jefferson Davis Highway was a great location,” said Theobald. “At night, you see all the lights. Some people have even asked if we are a casino since it looks so modern and high-tech from outside at night.”

As the only PC gaming center in Prince William County, people can play their favorite computer or console games in a social environment that sure beats a dark basement. “It’s kind of like the Matrix,” said Theobald. “You have to see it to get it. The high-tech décor, lots of lights, it’s clean and welcoming, cords are hidden away and not all over the place – it’s a really cool place to hang out with friends and family and play PC and console games together.”

What Tech Time Offers

Not only is Tech Time’s space fun and inviting, but their selection of games is impressive as well with over 40 games to choose from, like Minecraft, World of Warcraft, Rocket League, Fortnite, Madden 19 and many more. The technology is remarkable too, having thought of everything you need, including:

  • 60 gaming PCs with i5/1070 and i7/1080 setups
  • 27″ and 32″ 144 Hz and 1ms monitors
  • 1GB dedicated fiber internet connection
  • 5 gaming consoles (Xbox/PS4)
  • 11’x22′ party room for events and tournament viewing
  • Snacks and drinks for sale

Starting at only $5 an hour for gaming time, it’s a budget-friendly way to have some fun, especially in the winter when playing outside is less feasible. Children under 14 years of age have to be accompanied by an adult at all times. For parents who’d like to play with their kids, Tech Time lets parents of paid 13 and under kids play free alongside their children until 5:00 p. m. on weekends. For parents who don’t game, they can still go and enjoy complimentary coffee and watch Netflix on Tech Time’s dime while their kids play games.

Tech Time Gaming is a sleek, modern, clean and welcoming space that caters to casual and serious gamers alike and is conveniently located just off Jeff Davis Highway in Woodbridge. Our staff includes friendly and knowledgeable gaming enthusiasts.
